Este foi o segundo ano consecutivo em que o Recreio da Juventude sediou as categorias dos 8 aos 16 anos
Caxias do Sul/RS – Um evento completo, que contou com uma estrutura exemplar, onde nem mesmo a chuva, que provocou o adiamento de alguns jogos e a mudança de programação de algumas categorias, impediu que os objetivos fossem alcançados. A avaliação é do presidente da Federação Gaúcha de Tênis (FGT), Roberto Petersen Mello, para quem o torneio foi concluído com saldo positivo, mais uma vez. O Banana Bowl teve as categorias dos 8 aos 16 anos realizadas no clube Recreio da Juventude, em Caxias do Sul, e foi encerrado no último domingo (25).
Ainda está presente na memória do dirigente o momento em que foi planejada a primeira edição na Serra Gaúcha, no ano passado, bem como o tamanho da responsabilidade de promover um torneio deste porte no Recreio da Juventude. “Surgiu de um encontro com o ex-presidente da Confederação Brasileira de Tênis, Jorge Lacerda, e com o atual presidente, Rafael Westrupp, que na época era o executivo da Confederação. Foi durante o confronto Brasil e Bélgica, em setembro de 2016. Naquela ocasião, os dois comentavam da preocupação com relação a edição de 2017 da competição”, recorda.
Hoje, o presidente da FGT se diz bem mais tranquilo em relação a ter aceito o desafio, pois a entidade tinha pouca experiência na realização de um evento deste porte. “De certa forma, fui até um pouco irresponsável assumindo este compromisso junto à CBT. Mas, observando hoje, vejo que fizemos a escolha certa”, reforça Petersen Mello.
ESTRUTURA – Para o presidente da FGT, a continuidade do torneio em Caxias do Sul, e especificamente no Recreio da Juventude, se deve, em muito, pela estrutura oferecida pelo clube e pela equipe de trabalho. “Formamos um boa parceria entre Confederação, clube e Federação. Essa foi a base da receita: parceria. Cada um se comprometendo com uma parte da organização, o resultado só pode ser positivo”, analisa. Segundo ele, manter nesta edição a mesma composição de parceiros foi primordial para o sucesso. A repercussão, destaca ele, tem sido extremamente positiva, mesmo levando em conta que nos dois primeiros dias de chave principal a chuva se fez presente em Caxias do Sul. ”Mas aí, a estrutura física do Recreio da Juventude possibilita tocar o torneio praticamente sem alterações significativas na programação. Isso gera uma sensação de tranquilidade e conforto, não apenas para a organização, mas para os participantes. A chuva parou, mas as emoções dentro e fora das quadras continuaram”.
O aumento no número de inscritos em relação ao ano anterior está relacionado, também, ao sucesso do torneio em 2017, pontua ele. “Tem muito do boca a boca, o pessoal comenta que o torneio foi bom, muita gente vai querer vir. Quem jogou no ano passado retornou e ainda tivemos acréscimo de participantes” destaca Mello. Para os próximos anos, o presidente da FGT afirma já estar à disposição para manter as parcerias e continuar com as próximas edições do Banana Bowl no Recreio da Juventude. “Logicamente que, para isso, dependemos da aprovação da Confederação e da concordância do clube. Algo me diz que essa parceria terá vida longa. Mas, para isso, necessariamente temos que, ano a ano, edição à edição, melhorarmos, qualificarmos ainda mais o evento” finaliza.
O 48º Banana Bowl teve a realização da Federação Gaúcha de Tênis em parceria com a Confederação Brasileira de Tênis e Recreio da Juventude, com apoio dos Correios. Caxias do Sul sediou as categorias 16, 14, 12 e Tennis Kids, de 8 até 11 anos. A categoria 18 anos teve como sede a Sociedade Recreativa Mampituba, em Criciúma.
